The Etowah river is our ‘back door’ fishery as it sits just minutes from our shop. The lower Etowah below Allatoona dam is a beautiful and historic warm water fishery providing year round fishing for a number of different warm water species. We primarily fish the Etowah out of a 16 ft Clacka Craft drift boat utilizing a small ‘kicker’ engine to reach the most productive water efficiently. The most famous or ‘infamous’ species to target in the Etowah is the Striped Bass that run up from Lake Weiss. The timeframe to target stripers in the Etowah generally ranges from May-September. Anglers who want to pursue striped bass in the river must come prepared to throw saltwater weight fly rods with large baitfish flies. Striper fishing is usually more about quality over quantity. In addition to the stripers, the Etowah boasts a healthy population of trophy sized Spotted Bass which can be targeted from March until the end of October. We encourage both fly and spin fishing on our Etowah float trips seeing as utilizing both tactics can increase catch rates and accommodates more skill levels.

Fly Fishing North Georgia
We are very fortunate to have over 5 miles of beautiful, exclusive trophy managed trout water conveniently located just over an hour from our shop just outside of Ellijay, Georgia. Tickanetley Creek or the ‘Tick’ as we like to call it, is a North Georgia mountain gem of a stream. Boasting both wild Rainbow and Brown trout as well as some stocked Rainbows that range in size from 6 inches to 25+ inches, with the average fish in the neighborhood of 18-20 inch range. With 5 plus miles of fishable water, the ‘Tick’ flows through a combination of dense low hanging mountain laurel and tighter casting scenarios indicative of classic Appalachain style fly fishing. Anglers can encounter some great dry fly fishing here as well as there is great bio mass in the stream. A day of fishing the Tick will most likely involve a combination of nymph, dries, and streamer fishing depending on conditions and the time of year. The Tick is a great place to test or improve your skills of catching large fish and making good presentations in smaller stream environments.
